| Socialism - a historical error? |
| The German Reich was not the
first country of the European capitalism. In comparison to the other European
states the German states were the poorest of Europe. The standard of living
in Germany was very low. The country joined very late the industrial revolution.
In the late 19ths century the German Reich´s commercial development
rose up and the other European countries feared the very cheap German products.
In England the sign "Made in Germany" was included to protect
the consumers from sub - standard and cheap German goods. But Germany is also the fatherland of socialism. The Germans Karl Marx and Engels are the most important emblems of socialism - and both of them came from West - Germany, by the way. Today we can respect socialism as an overcome period of political culture, but we may not neglect the old ideals of socialism which have got a lot of parallels to modern liberalism. Marx demanded to dethrone the kaisers and kings, to destroy the old power of the churches and the religions, to neglect nationalism, to oppose war and imperialism, social welfare, human rights, religious freedom and the unification of the European countries. This aims couldn´t been reached without violence - that´s clear. The old aristocrazy, clerus and industrial tycoons would like to preserve their old power. The First World War finished the old European system. The German Reich lost Western - Prussia, Alsac Lorraine and the colonies. The Imperial and Royal Monarchy of Austria - Hungaria was devide in several smaller states. But the socialists could only take over the power in Russia, although the economical structure of the Reich was destroyed. In Germany the socialist were ripping up and opposed each other so that the Nazis could get their chance. The Russian socialism should become as terrific as the Nazi regime. The Russians misused the old ideals of Marx and Engels. The positive elements of socialism were integrated in our modern democratic states. Perhaps we ´ve learnt by the history. |
